You are at the José Bohr Municipal Theatre, on Magallanes street. It opened in 1899, built for José Menéndez, one of the great wool pioneers, and the city took it over in 1905. It carries the name of José Bohr, a songwriter and film pioneer who started out playing piano for silent films in Punta Arenas, wrote the city's hymn and went on to make films abroad. It closed in 2009 and reopened, restored, in 2012. If there is a show tonight, go in: few things are as warm as a full theatre on a windy night.
